General questions:

The Lede is a new daily, digital publication, offering  you a premium reading experience. This daily news report centers on thoughtful, passion-topic driven coverage showcasing local news at its core. Additional content includes podcasts, videos, vibrant photo galleries, interactive puzzles and games and bonus content. It is included with any subscription to The Huntsville Times or the Press-Register. Subscribers can activate access online at the Subscriber Center.

No, The Lede replaces your eNewspaper replica. You will find it to be a premium reading experience.

Yes, however, upon your first login, you will be prompted to sign in by entering the email address associated with your account and the password you created. This will be the same credentials you were using for your eNewspaper. You may also bookmark The Lede website or save to favorites for easy access or link to it from the Subscriber Center.

Go to the Subscriber Center, click on the Sign In button then click on Forgot Password. You will be prompted to enter your email address to receive the password reset link. Click Submit. When you receive the email, click on the Reset Link and follow the prompts. Be sure to check your junk and spam folders if you do not receive this email.

iOS App Users:

You will be required to download the new iOS app, The Huntsville Lede, The Mobile Lede or The Birmingham Lede, when the transition happens.  You will be prompted to sign in with your email address and password upon downloading the first edition in the new app. If you want to receive automatic downloads for each new edition go to settings and check that Automatic downloading and Automatic downloading possible is set to ‘On’.

Android App Users:

You will be required to download the new Google Play app, The Huntsville Lede, The Mobile Lede or The Birmingham Lede, when the transition happens.  You will be prompted to sign in with your email address and password upon downloading the first edition in the new app.

In-App purchases are available through the iTunes Apple store and Google Play at $9.99 for a one-month auto renewing subscription.  Remember, subscribers can download the app for no extra charge.

Questions About Access and Navigation:

The home page or kiosk will present each day’s publication and an archive of past editions. To go back to the kiosk, click on The Lede logo in the upper left.

There are several ways you can move around in the edition.

  • By index – found on page 2, you can click on and link directly to a story.
  • By section – at the top of the edition, you will see each section listed and can jump to that section by clicking the section label.
  • By page using arrow buttons – each page will have a right and left arrow to navigate forward or back.
  • By scroll bar/slider – a slider appears at the bottom of the edition, allowing you to move to a specific page.
  • By clicking on the left and right arrow on your keyboard.

Simply click on the article. To read, scroll up and down. You can also view images by clicking on the image. A camera icon will appear to show you how many images are included in the gallery. Once in a gallery, use the arrow buttons to move to the next image. To exit the gallery, click on the “X” button in the upper right.

When reading an article, you may share it by clicking the share icon located at the end of the article. You can share on Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter or email.

Supplements are additional content available as part of your subscription. The Washington Post National Weekly and Parade Magazine are included each Sunday. Other supplements may appear in the kiosk as they are produced. Either click on the supplement in the kiosk or toggle to it while reading the newspaper. It will appear in the right rail. You can also toggle back to the newspaper from a supplement.

You access interactive crossword puzzles and games like the LA Times Crossword Puzzle within each edition. Click on the puzzle button which will link you to that day’s puzzle. This will open to a new tab in the browser.
